Paper Abstract:
|
This article considers the evolving concept of portals and the use of community and regional portals by small businesses. Specifically, the article examines two situations where regional portals are no longer in existence. Generally, the term Web portal is overused and difficult to define precisely but we offer a categorisation of a number of different types of portal. Benefits that portals can provide to small businesses are discussed, and two Australian regional portals are contrasted to illustrate the benefits that portals can provide for small businesses and some of the perils that may befall them. |
